MHSAA CROSS COUNTRY STATE FINALS RESULTS FOR OHHS RUNNERS SELMA ANDERSON AND LIAM WALTERS

SELMA ANDERSON - D1 STATE RUNNER-UP

Selma Anderson was the D1 Girls Runner-up Saturday, November 5th at the MHSAA State Finals yesterday. She ran the best race of her career setting a PR of 17:13.6, which was about 8 seconds under her previous best. It was the third time this year she has broken the school record. It was her third All State honor in cross country, the most ever achieved by an Ottawa Hills athlete.

Selma ran the 13th fastest girls time ever run at MIS. Only 10 girls have ever run faster Those in front of her include not only current legends in Michigan history Rachel Forsyth (twice) and Jessie Jazwinski, but the likes of Erin Finn, Megan Goethals (twice), Erika Vanderlende, Zofia Dudek, Olivia Theis, Abby Vanderkooi, Brooke Handler and Gabi Anzalone...pretty elite company.

Great job Selma!

Liam Walters also had another good run, but was just a little shy of making All-State. His race started well as he was 20th at the mile. He finished in 39th running 15:55, just 9 spots shy of making All State.

Both Selma and Liam will be racing next week at postseason events.
